1 John 2, 1f

1 John 2, 1f

I am writing this to you, my children, so that you will not sin; but if anyone does sin, we have someone who pleads with the Father on our behalf — Jesus Christ, the righteous one. And Christ himself is the means by which our sins are forgiven, and not our sins only, but also the sins of everyone.
1 John 2, 1f

Isn’t it nice that we have such an advocate? Jesus sits at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. He knows our weaknesses and faults and all of our sins. And yet, He has taken all the punishment on the cross, and we can be free. If our sins are harrassing us and our conscience can not come to rest when we accuse ourselves or other people accuse us, then we can turn to our advocate. He’s worried about us and loves His children. He wants that the poor souls get rest. Let us confess our sins and failures, then He will forgive us. And He sends us His Holy Spirit, who strengthens our faith in forgiveness and brings us His peace. Sin is an evil thing, it separates us from God, the source of life. That’s why we do not want to sin, but sometimes it happens just yet. How well that we have Jesus, our advocate!

Lord, bring my heart to rest! I plague myself with all sorts of things that You have long since forgiven me. You are my advocate, to You I hold myself. And You hold me and give me Your heavenly peace. Let me walk in Your peace today and help me to beware a strong mind which can not be worried. Cause You are with me!
