When I was a little child my mother had prayed with me every night: “I am small, my heart is pure, nobody should dwell therein than Jesus only.” That was a short and simple prayer. But somehow these words are deeply anchored in me still today. Of course I wanted to have a pure heart when I was a child.
Only later bad thoughts occupied me in connection with girls, money, possession and prestige. These worldly riches exited and tempted me everywhere and surely I did not have the feeling that a pure heart beat in me. There were too many interests which did not concur with God`s purety. How glad I was when I finally found Jesus, when I was able to confess all my sins, my dirtiness and received mercy and forgiveness. Yes, since then His mercy and forgiveness make my heart clean and new every morning. Thank you, Jesus!
Regretfully so many people are lead astray respectively are backsliding. Often the young men want to follow Jesus with enthusiasm and feel strong but only until they meet a beautiful girl and forget Jesus. The young ladies turn away from Jesus and go with guays who are flattering and blandishing them. The widows do not want to stay alone and prefer to receive the comfort from a partner instead from Jesus. There are so many who are leaving Jesus and search salvation elsewhere. But often there is a rude awakening in tears and repentance. How consoling it is that Jesus never will let us fall, will have mercy on us and forgive. How many detours and suffering could be avoided if you always and immediately listen to Jesus and obey Him.
We will take care that no small shadow will fall on our heart. To have a pure heart is so wonderful, bright, piecefull, and holy beyond our understanding! It is like the heart of a new born baby. It is really the most precious thing. Let us take care about our heart with greatest attention to keep it pure and holy! We only will succeed if we stay in the love of God.
And if we really happen to go astray then we have a wonderful Advocate before the Father: Jesus Christ. He intercedes for us. He forgives us as soon as we truly come to Him. He is a merciful, tender, gentle, and a patient God. We always should honor His love.
Thank you, Jesus, in You my heart is pure and holy! You are forgiving all evil. You are dwelling in my heart and cleanse it from all dirt! Stay in me to keep my heart pure. Watch over me!
