Abundance — 2015.12.27

You care for the land and water it;
You enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water,
to provide the people with grain.
For so You have ordained it. ….
You crown the year with Your bounty
and Your carts overflow with abundance.
Psalm 65: 9 + 11
Once I visited an old lady. She lived very modest, however a wonderful, fresh atmosphere welcomed you there, piece and joy. This woman was rich in heavenly goods. In her modest living she had no shortage of material goods. She always confirmed that she was blessed and that her children were doing well. She was full of gratitude. And I knew that her husband just had died some time ago and she also had lost her son. She could have complained about it. However she preferred to receive the consolation and goodness of God for that. It was a wonderful meeting with her.
The old lady was able to "tap" the abundance of God. And, indeed, the blessing of the Lord was clearly visible in her. We often need lot of things and dissatisfaction threatens, there is no joy, we are filled with sorrows. Bad memories make us sad and discourage us. We fight for bagatelles, for our interests and are blind for the abundance and richness of God.
God wants to bless us, to shower us with all goodness which, however, could not reach us. Therefore many communities are more dead than alive, there is a great lack of spiritual life. What is the reason for that and what can we change?
There was a very rich man who had 2 sons. The one worked hard the whole day through, lived simply, needed nothing, spent no time with the father, with his brothers or friends. He did that in a very serious, hardworking, and determined manner. The other son was a cheerful person. He was hard working as well but not so stubbornly. He was happy and enjoyed life. He loved it to share his time with the father, talked with him. The father did not pamper him but he listened to the wishes of his son and wherever possible he fulfilled it. This son lived in abundance of his father. He enjoyed that but did not waste anything.
Often our relationship to God is alike. The one works in his own strength, very seriously and righteously but without the heavenly Father. He did everything alone and did not tap the abundance of God. The other son seeks the Father first, speaks with Him, asked Him for many things and receives them. He is happy, pleased, he sings and dances and is fulfilling his obligations nevertheless.
Thank You, Jesus, through You we receive the grace of God. He loves us so much and likes to shower us with His abundance. Give me more expectation, more courage, more love for the Father.
