Anger, Bitterness, Darkness – 2016.08.17

God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:5ff
Some Christians just believe everything in the Bible. They pray, go to church and yet there is darkness in their hearts. No joy, no peace. Did God forget them? So they ask. No, God did not forget them! He yearningly waits that His child finds the right way.
Some feel ignored as a little child. The elder brother or sister always could do it better. At school or in the kindergarten their work and the good will was not valuated. In the marriage the husband does not appreciate the endeavors of his wife. He always thinks of himself. At work you are pushed aside while others get praise for their performance. Slowly self-pity and anger arise. Nobody likes me. They become gray mices who live somewhere withdrawn in the background. Migraine and other illnesses are spreading by this unnoticed everlasting anger.
When they are on the way to be a Christian they have difficulties to overcome this attitude. They see how others are rejoicing whilst they have the feeling to be still in the darkness. They notice how prayers of others are answered and they remain without a response…
Did God forget them? Are the promises only for the others? There are good news for those people: Today God will change that, today He will set you free!
From His point of view God considers anger, bitterness, pride, stubbornness and self-pity altogether as sin, because it separates the man from light. It is darkness. With His light He likes to shine into our darkness to reveal the actual problems and to solve them. Are you ready for that?
The sin which God shows you, confess it as sin! Then He is able to forgive and to purify you. Then He can pull you out of the darkness into light so that you are able to enjoy community with God and your Christian brothers and sisters. He loves His child and likes to forgive. Therefore He likes to bring to light the hidden sins to free us from them. Come to the light! Stay in the light! When anger and self-pity come again, throw them out. Refer to your decision! Jesus is Lord and forgives. I will not go back into the darkness.
Thank you, Jesus, You make my darkness bright! You are God who forgives me, who reveals all hidden problems, so restoration can take place and communion with You is possible. Yes, Jesus, I come!
