God, the Lord, said:
Then I will send rain on your land in its season … so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. … and you will eat and be satisfied. Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them.
Deuteronomy 11:14-16
If the Israelites, or the modern day church, listens to the word of God and loves Him with all their heart He will greatly bless the land and the people. The rain will come in right time and the harvest will be rich. And the people will have plenty to eat. And than? Will they become proud again? Will they be grateful to the Lord or will they praise themselves? They worked so hard, and did it so well, they really deserved to have this rich harvest. Well, God helped a little but we, the people, did all the work… And God will withdraw his blessing and the people will want to return to God when the harvests start to fail.
It’s a synergy between the people and God. If the people are lazy, God doesn’t bless them, and the poverty rises. If the people work hard, do their best and pray like it all depends on Gods blessing, God will do His best as well.
Once someone said: I work as if everything depended on me only, but I pray like everything depends on God. Truly, this is the way it’s supposed to be. Through all our hard work we should keep God in our minds. He is the one that is controlling those things that are out of our control: the weather, the climate, accidents, illness, and so much more. Despite all our technology we are still fully dependent on Him. We should always keep that in mind! Because if we do we will always grateful to God and always love Him. And God will shower us with His blessing.
The word of God is reminding us to never forget Him when everything goes well for us. So many Christians went down the wrong road! They fell down because they bowed down to other gods (wealth and luxury) without even noticing it.
No, we don’t want it this way! When our heart gets tempted and we trust in our riches – when our riches become our god – we shall return to God and give Him our praise! He is the spring of life!

Father forgive us when our heart loses the focus on you. Wealth and sorrow betray us slowly, please reveal where I lost my focus! I want you as my only God!
