Blessed in Abundance – 2017.02.20

Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things.
Malachi 3:10
This verse is about the Tithe. In the Old Testament God commanded that every Israelite gave a tenth of their harvest to the temple. God promised them rich blessings for this. They should put Him to the test! He would open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things.
If this is true for the Tithe how much more will we be blessed when we give us as a holy, living sacrifice to the Lord, like it’s written in Romans 12:1. Then Gods blessing can’t be stopped.
Unfortunately there are people who use this verse to preach a gospel of prosperity. They say, that if you life according to the scripture you become rich, and your current wealth is an indicator of your holiness.
But in reality Christians will be tested and have to endure hard times, like Ijob. God takes us to His school! He cuts the vine so it becomes fruitful, and He cuts us so our pride, lust, envy, and much more disappears. When we life for God, what do we need pride, lust, and envy in our heart? He should take it away! And this happens in His school. Sometimes this is hard and sometimes even up to our limit.
And still, the verse above is true! Because God is especial close to us in hard times. Gods company is better than a full bank account! Yes, when God is close no other blessing is missing – everything else will become a side issue.
Let’s be a living sacrifice to God so we can be be sure of His presence. He is the one that holds His hand over us takes care of many things before we even know it. He gives us many small and larger things, He listens to our prayers, gives us His joy, and covers in His peace. Yes, He pours out abundances of all kinds of good things over us!
Thanks Jesus, You are the reason I can be close to God! It’s beautiful that He is with me in bad times, when His consolation flows through my heart and His peace comes over me. Yes, Jesus I want to belong to You as a living sacrifice. Thank You for taking care for me in every way possible, and for blessing me plentiful!
