Called to peace – 2017.03.17

God has called us to live in peace.
1. Corinthians 7,15
God wants His children to live in peace with one another.  Constant fighting is definitely not what He wants for His children!
The old fathers of our faith already lived according to this principle.  When fighting erupted, they moved on some ways and dug a new well.  If fighting continued, they moved even further.  Because they knew:  earthly belongings do not last eternally, but God’s blessing does, and it is all-encompassing;- they knew this because they always found the exact right spot to dig a well which would supply them with abundant water.  They knew God would take care of them in every way and thus it was not necessary for them to harp on their rights.
God expects quite a bit of us.  He does not take away all our suffering.  But constant fighting is definitely not His will.
Some people are very sensitive and easily hurt.  They always find something to cause strife.  Only in Heaven will they finally find peace.  Some seek new employment every 8 weeks, because their present job does not fulfil them and they do not get along with their colleagues.  They have high expectations of others … God cannot give His blessing in such matters.
But he who sees God as originator of all blessings is strong and steady.  He is able to let go and separate himself from things and being “right”.  How God blesses such a person!  What peace and strength radiates from such people!  Secure in God, that is our answer to any dispute.
Fighting, even in cases where we are right, leads to sleeplessness; and so many people (including Christians) resort to taking sleeping tablets at night.  And after some time depression sets in.  So they take a tablet in the morning, to lighten their mood, and one in the evenings, to aid sleep… perhaps God has a better way in mind for these people?  Have they declined God’s way of solving the problem in favour of being right?  And what about forgiveness?  Have they forgiven their enemy as they expect God to forgive them?
We need a very close relationship with God in order to solve our problems and disputes according to His will.  Then we can go with God’s blessing, and have His peace fill our hearts.
Thank You Jesus, in You I find wisdom to solve my problems!  I want to listen to You and consider Your Word in my heart.  Even if I should lose something and not achieve what I deserve … You take care of me.  Your blessing is worth more than all the treasures on earth!
