Charged and Convicted – 2015.06.05

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect people? It is God who acquits them. Who is going to convict them? It is Christ Jesus who died, even more, who was raised, and who also is at God’s right side. It is Christ Jesus who also pleads our case for us.
Romans 8:33f
Sometimes we make mistakes and have to stand by it. When we are charged, we should apologize and repair the damage. If the police catches me when I’m driving to fast, I have to pay my penalty.
But sometimes people accuse us and speak bad of us, but it’s not true! Sometimes they condemn us for anything that God has already forgiven! There are many evil tongues ….
And sometimes I accuse myself because of my own mistakes and shortcomings. Then it is difficult for me to believe in God’s forgiveness and His love. Then everything is bleak and gray.
Exactly for this reason God wrote these verses in His Bible. On this we can rely on! Jesus stands up for me for the throne of God. HE cleanses me from all sin. HE has made me righteous. HE has chosen me, even though he already knew every day of my life. HE does not condemn me. HE does not want to get separated from me. It’s HIS decision!
Defiantly I can calm my conscience and the thoughts that accuse me: Yes, but … !!!. Yes, I am a sinner, but Jesus did not convict me! And I can go to the throne of grace and ask Jesus for His love. He forgives, comforts, rebuilds and gives new hope. He comforts me through His presence. It’s good to be with Him.
Nothing can separate me from the love of God, only my own disbelief. But my unbelief is not true! When the sun is shining and I am sitting in the basement and think: It will probably rain again! – Then my faith is wrong. The truth is: The sun IS shining. And the sun of God’s love shines over my life, whether I believe it or not. Lord, help my disbelief!
Thank you, Jesus, You love me! Without limits, no ifs or buts! You’re my lawyer and my defender. You stay true to me, and stand up for me in front of God’s Throne. You hold on me, even when all charge me. You comfort me when I charge myself. Your love in me makes me happy and full of hope again. Because YOU are faithful, merciful and good.
