Compassion – 2014.12.08
The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
very patient, and full of faithful love.
A man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. He encountered thieves, who stripped him naked, beat him up, and left him near death. Now it just so happened that a priest was also going down the same road. When he saw the injured man, he crossed over to the other side of the road and went on his way. Likewise, a Levite came by that spot, saw the injured man, and crossed over to the other side of the road and went on his way. A Samaritan, who was on a journey, came to where the man was. But when he saw him, he was moved with compassion. The Samaritan went to him and bandaged his wounds, tending them with oil and wine. Then he placed the wounded man on his own donkey, took him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day, he took two full days’ worth of wages and gave them to the innkeeper. He said, ‘Take care of him, and when I return, I will pay you back for any additional costs. (after Luke 10:30-35)
So great is God’s mercy! As I laid on the ground, battered and without hope, Jesus came and helped me up. He poured oil and wine on me, that is the Holy Spirit. He was worried about me and did everything in order. Yes, His unmerited mercy saved me! His patience, forbearance and kindness are my chance!
Now I want to become like He: Show mercy, where I do not expect anything in return. Have patience, where actually is no hope. To be kind to people who can not return anything. I think because of Jesus’ mercy, which lived in the disciples, faith could conquer the world in a short time. Because people are merciless with each other, impatient and hard. But Christians are different! Let yourself be "infected" by the mercy of Jesus!
Thank you, Jesus for having compassion and patience with me. How often am I hard and impatient, but You do not give up hope for me. You stand faithful to me! Lord, give me more of Your spirit of mercy!
