That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
John 17, 21
This is the goal of Jesus with the church of believers.
In the New Testament there are some tips for this.
Jesus gave His gifts to the Christians. One is an evangelist, a prophet, a teacher, a shepherd ….. There are many gifts, and the gifts are very different in the believers trained, there are many different variants of each gift. One does it that way, the other does it differently.
But one thing is clear: One man alone cannot have all the gifts, that is a total overtaxing for a leader. And an excessive demand for the church, which has a leader who is not very good at many things. So much blessing is lost because we concentrate on one man.
The Bible knows that. That is why she recommended that we take a council as our leadership. This, however, requires a lot of humility from the leaders, because they then have to listen to others who have the gift in demand. For example, if someone has the gift of discernment, and he gets problems with certain things, then it is absolutely necessary to take that into account. One must give the evangelist the freedom to evangelize. The teacher must find his place, the prophet must find a protected place for his work, the person with the gift of healing must not become unemployed ……
And where is the leader? He must organize everything in such a way that it happens without friction! It must really be a fraternity that feels responsible for the community. One must show respect to the other, respect him more than himself.
If all gifts are used, then the leader is free of a lot of stress and the church is never overtaxed. This is what Jesus wants. He wants us brothers and sisters in the church to become one, just as Jesus and the Father are one. Without humility this is absolutely not possible. Neither without forgiveness. – Are you ready?
Thank You, Jesus! You want to be one with us, and we want to be one. Please, take from us every lust for power and give us humility and a forgiving heart! Then You can live among us. It will be wonderful!
