Devotion – May, 24.
Good morning!!
I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12, 10
Paul was a mighty apostle . He founded many churches and wandered through half the world. He wrote many letters we can read in the Bible today. He was God’s chosen instrument . Who does not want to be such a man of God?
And yet, when we read his resume, then one could think he would be a failure. Everywhere he experienced hostility, was often flogged or put to jail. He knew shipwrecks and the lynching of the people. And besides, he got very tortured by the enemy, Satan. He often was sick and weak, closer to death as to life. And now who still want to change places with this man, this jinx?
Paul himself affirmed his weakness. He knew – only this way God could transform his pride in humility. And God was with Paul. He was very, very close to him and let him take a glimpse of heaven. God worked so many signs and wonders and mighty works through this humble Paul.
If this is the way by which God shapes and uses us, then we want to affirm it too. We want to commit ourselves completely to God and receive everything he gives us. We even want to thank Him that He educates us and draws us to Him. For only in our weakness He can be strong!
Thank you, Jesus, You yourself have suffered so much so I do not want to complain, moan and whine constantly. You have the power to take all my difficulties and You have the power to bring me through all difficulties. Yes, Lord, I say yes to Your way with me. Because You have a wonderful destination for me. You carry me and You are with me. Whom and what shall I fear? You’re there!
