Jesus asked him, Simon, son of John, do you love me?

Peter was grieved because Jesus asked him the third time: Do you love me? He gave him the answer: Lord, you know everything; You know that I love you.
The question of whether I love Jesus, is a very deep question. You cannot respond so quickly. And yet our doubt in Him makes Him sad. Whether I myself doubt Jesus or any other man, this doubting my love for the Lord makes Him sad and causes me to deal with the question.
Do you love me? Yes, how are we to know !? It’s not mean this heavenly jubilant feeling that passes the first storm. Nor does it mean the love of the will: „Got to“ love. It is a very deep love of the heart. It also includes feelings, will, mind and all thoughts. But it goes much, much deeper. It says, Jesus, You are the Alpha and Omega for me. You’re the one for whom I live.
Sometimes this love is spoiled by too much stress and bustle and work. Or by our careless use of silly things; – We then become entangled in wrong and will not be available again for Him (God calls sin that). There may also be another God into our lives: wealth, luxury, money, sex, sports, work ….
Jesus himself will make us free to love Him. For He knows  that we find only in Him our fulfillment and the meaning of our lives. He alone is in fact our lives, our goal, purpose and source. Therefore He gives us the Holy Spirit who makes us able to love him wholeheartedly, even against all odds, against all sense and against our own ego. When we let the Holy Spirit take us, it is a wonderful love affair. When we rebel against His leadership / government, we quickly into a dead religiosity; – Jesus, prayer, Bible reading and so is the ritual.
We come sometimes feel like a candle, standing in the wind and our love for Jesus can at any moment be blown. But in truth He holds his hand in front of it, so that it is not possible for the storm to blow out the flame of love. Sometimes only the wick only glows, the flame has been extinguished. But He can ignite it quickly and keep it alive. Turn quickly to Him and call for help! Confess your weak faith, your infidelity, your sin and not let him go again! Clasp yourself to Him, the Savior of sinners and weak people! He likes it when we cling to Him and call for help. Then He is quickly there and connects with our wounded heart, forgives any debt and kindles the flame of love again.

Come Jesus, help! My love for you is only small and weak, I fear that it will go out! Rekindle the flame again! I want so much to be with you and walk with you through life! Lord, I need you !!
