Doubt — 2015.11.29

I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
Sometimes we are overwhelmed by severe doubts whether we are accepted by God at all and whether we are true Christians. These times are horrible, full of self-torment, self-accusation, and full of confusing feelings. Then often everything goes wrong and we cannot see the blessing of our Lord over our life. In those moments we really want to throw our faith overboard to let everything go and flow with the mainstream.
But God will not rest. "He began the good work in us and will carry it on to completion!" We should not look at our insufficiency but to the mercifulness of God. Often our doubts are the results of our shortcomings. Indeed it is correct that there is nothing good what we can present to God. And yet: He is the God of Mercy!
As long as the Spirit of God is working in us and likes to draw us nearer into His presence, it is not too late. For He has hope for us! We, with all our doubts, reproaches, and misunderstandings, should rather trust Him, appeal on His word. He is faithful even when I am unfaithful. He will carry on the good work to completion, even when I have doubts. He is greater than me!
Jesus has told us the story about the sheep that was lost and certainly had mowed miserably, had no hope. But the Good Shepperd, always having His eyes on the sheep, went to find it, to bring it home on His shoulders. Yes, Jesus does not let us alone! He says: Nobody can snatch them out of My Hand. He does not allow that the enemy wins not with regard to one single human being. Once you have begun to go with the Lord He will complete the work – that’s for sure.
Jesus, we come to you, for You have words of life! You are Lord, also over my life. I myself cannot produce anything, but totally lean on Your mercifulness. I completely entrust myself to Your loving, almighty Hands. You are the Good Shepperd!
