Faith – 2017.02.21

Then Jesus said’ “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
John 11,40
These are words Jesus spoke to Martha.  Her brother Lazarus had passed away  and she blamed Jesus for not being there and healing Lazarus in time.  But Jesus had other plans.  He wanted to perform an even greater miracle, namely to call Lazarus back to life.  Martha was a very practical woman, and was of the opinion that the body of Lazarus was already smelling, as the funeral had been three days before.  That is when Jesus said the words above.
Faith, yes, what is that really???
Some people consciously try very hard to believe.  They really really want to believe in something and think that for this reason alone God will do what they believe He will.  Some think when emotions and feelings run high, then they can pray for whatever they wish;- God will grant their wishes.  But it does not work that way.  Very often nothing happens.  And people are disappointed.  They tried so very hard, were so sure, but God did not react and did not listen to their prayers.
Faith is not a matter of will, and neither is it a matter of feelings.  Faith grows in our hearts, and many things are involved:  determination, feelings, senses, strength, the soul and especially the Holy Spirit who lives in our hearts.
In conversation with God about a specific matter, we develop an impression, a feeling about what God thinks about it.  And then the belief grows that this is precisely what God wants to do.  That is when we begin to pray that God may act!  Simply said, this is faith that is capable of moving mountains.  God reacts to this faith that He personally placed in  our hearts.
Jesus did only that which His Father told Him.  So He found Zacchaeus hiding in a tree, that is how He knew about Nathanael before he came to Him.  That is how He was able to heal those who came to Him.  He knew God’s will and could act and pray as such.
Let us act in such a way.  Let us search God’s meaning in prayer, ask Him first and only once we are sure, pray for a miracle.  Then we shall see God’s magnificence.  What a great promise!!!  Yes, I do want to see God’s miracles here and now.  Therefore I pray, therefore I am still before Him and speak to Him of all things.  I want to hear Him and know what He wants.  In this way I am able to see some miracles and experience God’s glory.
Thank You Jesus, You are never far!  Thank You for talking to me!  I want to learn more about You and see God’s glory.  Open my ears!
