Faith and obedience – 2015.01.22
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Hebrews 11, 8
Faith and obedience are connected very tight. If we don’t believe and don’t trust Jesus it is very difficult for us to obey Him. If we know Him we can trust Him and obey blindly.
There are some big decisions where we have to obey Jesus. And there are many many small decisions every day where we should live according to His will. The big decisions are, e.g. not to lie, not to steal and to follow Jesus. The small ones are, e.g. to thank God before meal because Jesus made it as well. Or: to work as for God personally. Or: When we pray then to thank at the same time. There are many tips in the bible how to live better with Jesus together.
Jesus would like us to obey Him in small things. Because it depends from small things whether we go with Him or our ways. HE can form our character when we obey Him; and it also makes us capable to obey Him in big things as well – to know His will and to accomplish it.
If we will live with Jesus more intimate then we will listen to Him more and more, trust in Him and so become more similar to Him and come nearer to Him.
Abraham took in the land which was promised to him by God. It was possible through faith and obedience. It is the same with us: we will take in the place which God intended for us just if we trust and obey Him. The land for Abraham was wonderful – so is our place; – the blessing from God is there! Abraham didn’t know where he was going. The same with us: we can’t even imagine sometimes where God leads us. It is really exciting, adventurously and never boring! But HE is there, His right hand leads and keeps us. HE is the Lord!
Thank you, Jesus, You intended a place for me and You will bring me there. I trust You and will not go my own ways. Thank you, You are patient when I sometimes refuse to obey. You still take my hand and we make it together. Thank you that You are so patient, loving and wonderful Lord!
