Fixing our eyes on Jesus – 2016.07.22

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Hebrews 12,2

It feels good to wake up and fix my eyes on Jesus. The redemption He has brought me! How often He has saved me from ruin! How great and strong and mighty He is! What a luster of glory surrounds Him!
The little problems awaiting me today are so insignificant. He is there, my friend and helper!
Whom should I fear? He, the Lord of angels keeps watch over me.
Why mope about? He, the Lord of joy makes me joyful.
Yes, it is good to seek Jesus first thing in the morning. Imagine a ship setting sail without the compass being set. The passengers will simply sail off to somewhere, but not there where they want to go. That’s how it is when we have time for everything in the morning, except our Lord. The day is somehow aimless.
He is the reason for our faith, not we. He searched for us and found us,- isn’t that great? On our own we would never have gone looking for Him. His Spirit keeps us searching and restless, until we find Him. He remains faithful, even when our path veers away from Him. He makes it possible for us to believe, not we. Yes, He is the pioneer and reason for our faith.
He is the perfecter of our faith. When our faith is shaped by Him, He leads it to perfection. We will see what we have believed. Our faith is no illusion, no pious, heavenly fairytale, but rather it is reality. We will truly experience what we believed and hoped for, here on earth already to some extent, but in Heaven to completion. He fulfills His promises!
Thank You, Jesus, You mighty Lord! It is good to behold You, Your greatness, glory and power! How wonderful to bask in Your love and mercy! How great it is to be filled with Your courage, hope, strength, joy and peace early in the morning!
2 Peter 1, 12-21
