Following Jesus — 2016.02.25

Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax and said to him: Follow me! And he got up and followed Him.
Matthew 9: 9

Jesus is very radical when it comes to following him. He is not content to be a little Christian. He wants everything.
When a rich man asked how he could enter the kingdom of God, He told him: Sell everything and give away it. Then come, follow me. Another wanted to follow Him, but first he had to for his father’s funeral. But Jesus said, ‘Follow me; let the dead bury their dead!
Jesus is not a heartless fanatic. He knows exactly what our heart is. And He wants to have it. He knows namely, that we cannot serve Him if our hearts are set on other things. We will never experience the full blessing of God, if we do not love and follow Him with all our heart.
Matthew left everything behind. His beloved Checkout, its lists, and all his work he left immediately to follow Jesus. Also, we now want to immediately follow Him. We want to hear what he has to say and do it. We want to be with Him in conversation, the whole day, and put into action everything he shows us immediately -! And in the way Jesus says it, and not putting things on the back burner.
Jesus wants all of us. He knows the things that are not good for us. He knows how our heart beats. But He wants to be everything to us. When we are finally free of our possessions and ties to people, we are free for Him and He can pour out His blessings upon us.
Some Christians He may entrust much money. They can deal with it and don’t idolize the money. Others get only the necessary, because money would be for them a threat. Some get from Jesus large orders entrusted, and others have not. It all depends on who Jesus is for us and what we hang our hearts.
Yes, Jesus, my heart is beating only for you! I will give you everything that I am still clinging to. I just want to love you and live for You, because You care wonderfully for me. My pride and my self-esteem, my cares and concerns, my children, my money, my possessions, everything will be yours. It is difficult for me, but I want to entrust you all and follow you.
