Gifts and Talents — 2016.04.03

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
and He gives them to each one, just as He determines.
1 Corinthians 12:11
It is about talents and gifts which God gives us in the Holy Spirit. Each one receives as God determines. There is one who can teach well, the other can preach, the third can praise, a fourth has the gift of hospitality… there are so many gifts and each one has them in his one way. It is amazing how creative God is!
Some people, however, say that they have received not a single gift. They think they can do nothing particularly well, others do it better. As a matter of fact they do not believe in the word of God which says that each one receives.
There was living a small, modest girl in a village which expects a visit of a king. All decorated their houses and prepared their gifts for him. Only the little girl could do nothing was blocking and standing in the way everywhere. Of course she was sad not being able to present anything to the king.
She left the village disappointed. On the way home she met a stranger who was very, very tired. She led his exhausted horse into the stall, took him home, and gave him to drink and to eat. There he told her nice stories so that she had fun with him. The next day he was going to continue his journey in a good mood. He hugged the girl and said: Because of you my trust in the people here was reestablished. Actually I wanted to forget this village for there was no mercy or pity. However, you have changed my mind. You are a real royal child!
We find out quickly: The stranger was the king whose heart had been won by the warmth and cordiality of the little girl.
Such a heart is a present of the Holy Spirit. We might think we have nothing and yet we have our heart which we dedicate throughout Jesus, our King. We honor and praise Him, thank Him, are simply joyful in Him. We can talk to Him and have cordial communion with Him. Such a heart is touching the King and is more precious to Him than thousands of human works and sacrifices. Yes, little girl, do not be sad again, praise Him and trust Him, be joyful, be wrapped tightly by the love of His heart.
Thank You, Father in heaven, You have created us all individually. No one is more worth to You than another. You love all the same. I am nothing special but I am Your child. Yes, I love You, and I want to devote all my strength for You. You are my Lord!
