HE gives generously to all without reproach.
James 1,5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?
This is from James 1, 5 – 8 and 4, 1 – 4.
It is about giving and taking. God has everything and He gives gladly. We lack many things and we receive nothing sometimes. The way of a blessing seems to be blocked. James thinks that the reason for that is our doubt and unbelief and also that we ask selfishly and want to have more and more and more. Paul thinks that we are unsatisfied and that’s why we want to have more and more then we already have. Dissatisfaction is unbelief and ungratefulness towards God.
The key for taking is trust that God gives us all we need: wisdom, compassion for others, forgiveness, work, food, place to live and much more. Who knows God knows that HE is loving Father who cares for His children. The second key is that we look away from ourselves, even forget ourselves, and pray with trust for those who are entrusted us. The third key is gratefulness for that what we have and satisfaction with that. Then God can bless us and overwhelm us with gifts. The blocks are removed from the way of blessing.
Those who are from God provided can give. Actually I have less when I give something away. But God compensates it. Finally I have more when I give.
Dear Father, help me to look away from me! I don’t want to be unsatisfied and jealous towards others who have more then me maybe. I have You and this is much more then others have. You provide for me everything I need and plenty. Help me to be generous! Because this is Your character. Help me to be grateful! Help me to trust You! I want to be Your child and You are my loving, patient, faithful Father. Thank you that You love me!
