God knows everything – 2019.06.28

… all the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139, 16

God knows everything. He knows exactly what tomorrow will bring, how I will decide and where I will go. He knows my thoughts of tomorrow today, oh, for ages! How can I understand such a thing? Is everything predestined? All only providence? God’s plan?
This is a difficult topic: Is everything predestined or am I free in my decisions?
Perhaps it helps if we make it clear to ourselves that God is above time. He sees everything at once, for Him is always “Now”. There is a time flow of things and a timeless overview that God has.
That is why HE knows what I am doing tomorrow. And yet it is only my decision. He just knows how I will decide! – and normally He will not intervene. After all, I am a mature citizen in the Kingdom of God, and not an underage puppet.
So God sees my whole life, from birth to the last day, HE sees it as one, in one moment. And He sees it through the eyes of a loving Father.
And how do I see it? I see the good days and the bad days. I see the successes and the failures, I also see the times of sin. And everything is written down in the book of God …
When this book is opened on the last day and judgment is pronounced …. Oh, I fear I have no chance to go to heaven. He is a righteous judge, He must condemn me!
But then Jesus enters. He is my “defender”. At every bad entry in the book He says: “The punishment has already been atoned for, I took it upon myself on the cross! – and He takes the page and tears it out of the book. At the end of the trial, the book has gotten very slim, but there’s nothing bad left in it! And the Judge says: “There is no reason to accuse, the man is free”. – And He sends me to heaven!
How good that Jesus is my Redeemer! How good, He is my Saviour, my Defender, my Helper and my best Friend! – And God says to Him: “Well done! I look forward to this new citizen of Heaven!

Thank You Jesus, You are wonderful! You have bought me heaven on the cross, now I am a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Father in Heaven is no longer my Judge, but my true, loving Father! Oh, what have I done to deserve this? Only through Your great love!
