Gods Faithfulness – 2016.09.12

God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
I have received a command to bless;
he has blessed, and I cannot change it.
Numbers 23:19-20

Balaam was supposed to curs the Israelites but he couldn’t do it. He had to say the words God commanded him to say. And like that he blessed Israel. Those verses are what God made Balaam say and they are still true for us personally.
What He promises He will fulfill, there is no question about that. When He has begun to bless you He will not stop. When He accepted you as His child His that won’t ever change. When He made some promises especially to you those will be fulfilled. God won’t change His mind.
There are blessings with certain requirements. As an example, one has to deal with money the right way to be blesses with more. Or one has to take care of ones body to be blessed with good health. There are clear requirements for this kind of blessing.
But there are promises and blessings that are independent of our behavior. He is faithful to me even if I’m not faithful to Him. He is with me even if I don’t want to be with Him. He accepted me as His child even if I don’t make Him proud. I am a sheep in His flock even if I go my own ways. Jesus said: nobody can take them from my hand!
It’s a good signal that sometimes the Holy Spirit tries to draw us back to God. That means He wants us and He didn’t forsake us.
His mercy shines eternally on our life like the sun. Only we can put up a screen the separates us form it. His yes is unchanging.
He knows that His children are flawed. And He knows that sometimes we fall deep. It’s good that we know that He still loves us and He waits for us! It’s good when we come to Him to cry on His shoulder so we can receive forgiveness! It’s good to be back with the Lord.
I once raised to lambs with a bottle and I loved them both. One ran away often, it trusted it’s own speed when it sensed danger; I could not protect it because I was to slow. The other lamb stayed close to me when it sensed danger. I could take it on my arms and protect it. Both are my sheep but one I can give everything and the other is of to fend for itself.
Thank You Jesus, for the promises that You don’t break! Yes, I want to be close to You to be protected by Your hand. I want to follow Your path without being distracted by other things. You are faithful to me and I want to be faithful to You!
