The Lord watches over those who obey him,
those who trust in his constant love.
Psalms 33:18

Our God is a merciful God! HE looks for people on whom He can pour out His mercy.
The previous verse is an admonition: "A king does not win because of his powerful army; a soldier does not triumph because of his strength. War horses are useless for victory; their great strength cannot save."
In what do we put our hope, what is our strength? The poor, weak and oppressed have it easy: They only have the Lord, in whom they can put their trust. But the strong and the rich have a hard time: There are so many things that can help them …. why would they need God?
We want to experience the goodness of God today. We want to seek out for God’s mercy and ask Him today to spread His kindness on us. Because we live through Him and for Him.
The Lord himself is looking out for us when we put our strength and hope in Him. He wants to pour out His goodness and is looking for people who want His grace. Verse 19 goes on saying: "He saves them from death; He keeps them alive in times of famine."
Yes, so is His will! We want to experience the grace that He keeps ready for us.
At the end of the psalm is a little prayer: "May your constant love be with us, Lord, as we put our hope in you."

Thank You Heavenly Father that You’re so full of goodness and mercy! You look at me with loving eyes and I would like You to pour put Your blessing over me every day. Forgive me, if I so often look for my salvation in other things and put my trust in anything else but You! You shall be my Lord who cares for me. For You alone are good.
