God’s Words of Love – 2016.11.18
… because God has said: Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.
Hebrews 1, 5
These are God’s words, spoken in love! They mean so, so much. Where is another God who promises something similar to those loyal to Him? Where is another human being that is capable of keeping such a promise forever and always? Even a mother can abandon her child, and a father can let his child fall. But our God promises: not me! Even when father and mother abandon you, I will never forsake you. Even if they let you fall, I will always remain by your side. Even if they should forget you, I will never forget you! Your name is written in the palm of my hand, I am always thinking of you, I can never forget you, it is impossible! That is no thanks to us, but thanks to God’s character. He is love without end, without conditions and repulsion, disgust or insult. He is love, love and more love! Even if His child has landed in the slums, – He will search until He has found, until His child is once again close to His heart. So it is with the eternal Father, who never stops being a Father. Full of mercy, compassion, patience, hope and faith in you.
Because God’s love is so strong, we are able to come before Him in trust and faith. There is no need to be afraid of His punishment. Because of Jesus, He wants to forgive. We are allowed to ask for anything, and He wants to fulfil our wishes. He wants to heap presents on us!
That is why there is a warning before this verse:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has promised: Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? (Verse 5f)
The warning pertaining to the love of money is meant for those people who are not sure of God. They need to take care of themselves and hog their money; they need all kinds of things and work very hard to gather even more wealth. It is a mistrust in God’s care of us, and it hurts Him deeply. If we are secure in Him, then we do not need all these things… we are able to use our time and energy much more wisely! Please, ask yourself what you are working for, and what you are spending your energy on. Perhaps a little bit less is a whole lot better for you? Then you will once again have more time for your Lord, who loves you so much!
Thank You Jesus, for freeing my way to God’s love! Now He, my Heavenly Father, is able to care for me and shower me with gifts. Thank You, I have all that I need. You really do take good care of me! And on top of all You give me heavenly gifts that cannot be bought: peace and joy.
