The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; …..
The government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.

The enemy is powerful and rules on earth with a solid, brutal hand. There is no hope in him, only darkness. It may be that in some countries prosperity reigns and it always goes only upward. And yet for many comes the moment of truth, namely, when everything collapses for them. Perhaps the doctor gives a bad diagnosis, and no one can help. Or an accident happens. Or the family is falling apart. We do not see this suffering at first sight, when we look at the rich countries. But there reigns death, disease, hopelessness, loneliness and darkness just as in other parts of the world.
How great that Jesus Christ has come! He is God’s answer to all the suffering in the world! He is the light of hope that shines in the darkness. He gives great pleasure, because he breaks the yoke that oppresses us and the stick of the driver. He brings peace. HE is joy. What a Jubilee where he is king!
He is so powerful that he rules until the end of the world. There are no limits for him. Even in the darkest corners of the world, he wants to rule gorgeous. HE looks for people who need Him and are looking for Him. With them he wants to build His kingdom of peace. With them he wants to break the power of darkness, bring hope, to bring joy and peace. He is the Prince of Peace.
He wants to make it bright and light in our lives. He wants to give us a strong hope. He wants to put peace and joy into our hearts. Yes, we want to worship our King and praise him. We want to bring His light into darkness. Nothing can stop us, because he is stronger.
Thank you, Jesus, that you came! Now I have hope, because you’re here! You are my comfort, my light, my joy and my strength. With you I can be light, because you will shine through me. How good that you’re the king!
