Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:21-23
Sometimes I feel like God is far away. He doesn’t listen to my prayers. He as closed His ears. Even if I scream, lent, pray, or shout… He doesn’t answer.

Jeremiah was in bad shape. People made fun of him and he suffered from many afflictions. It seems like God didn’t listen to his prayer anymore. He was desperate when he remembered: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” He kept it in his mind: God is faithful! Today He is angry about my sins, but tomorrow is a new day of compassion! Even if today takes a turn for the worst there will be a day when God turns to me once again. O Lord, thank You for Your loyalty! I trust in You – in whom else should I put my trust? Everything breaks apart and there is nothing left to put my hope in. But Your compassion is new every morning, even if You are angry with me. But can I complain? Isn’t it just to suffer for my sins? Can I hold it against God? He alone is just and holy.

Jeremiah writes more: “For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.”(Lamentations 3:31-33)

Isn’t it great that God doesn’t cast anybody off for ever! Even if He is angry today, tomorrow everything will be fine.

Lord, if I have done something wrong reveal it to me and forgive me! And if You want to test me, I will have patience because You will turn back towards me eventually.

I live only in You. You are the spring of life, You are the goal of my life, and You are the content of my life. I belong to You.
