In His Presence – 2014.10.29
Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
Psalm 15:1
Yes, who can live in God’s presence? Only those who live spotless and always do what is right?
I’m thinking of Mary, who sat at Jesus’ feet and was listening to Him. I remember the woman who came to Him, anointed Him with oil, washed His feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. I’m thinking of the disciple whom Jesus loved and who was lying on Jesus’ breast at the Last Supper. I’m thinking of Peter, who was asked by Jesus three times: "Do you love me?" There is the criminal who was crucified with Jesus. He asked Jesus to remember him when He is with the Father. And Jesus said to him: "Today you will be with me in paradise." There are so many who came to Jesus and He touched them.
He has promised us: "Whoever comes to me I will never drive away." (John 6:37)
He himself tells us: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
Yes, I have a right to be a guest in His tent and to live on His holy mountain, because I want Him. I want to belong and listen to Him. I want to trust Him and seek His presence. I want to take my time for Him and be silent before Him. He has to fill me with His good spirit. I want to bring my sins to Him and be clean again. And wherever trouble or the darkness comes over me, I will flee to Him. He holds me with His strong wings. To be close to Him and to trust Him completely – that is the greatest happiness and a state of the deepest peace in the heart.
Thank you, Jesus, that I can be near you. You’re so good to me! I enjoy the quiet time with You. You always give me courage, new hope and strength. With You I can go boldly and cheerfully through life! Thank You that you are there!!
