Jesus, our shelter

Jesus, our shelter

And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it.
Matthew 16, 18

Sometimes it seems to us as if all the powers of hell were fighting against us. There is only chaos and struggle. In ourselves there is darkness, no light can be seen and all hope is gone. And yet Jesus says, they will not overcome you!
He has the power to do the same. He will hold you and carry you, even if you only think about dying. His will shall be done, for He is the Lord, who has the final word. You will not die before He considers it right. But the forces of death and the underworld do not reign. How often did the messengers of death come, but Jesus has kept us. How many times have we walked through the dark valley, but His rod and staff comforted us! Yes, He is a wonderful Lord who loves those who follow Him, who comforts them, protects them and leads them through every dark valley.
Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust. He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you. God says, “I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord. When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them. I will reward them with long life; I will save them.” (Taken from Psalms 91)
Thank you, Jesus, I am firmly in Your strong hand! No one can snatch me out of it. You are stronger than all the evil forces, You are stronger than death and destruction! I cling to You and You protect me as under a shield. You comfort me and give new courage. Yes, You are my wonderful Lord and Savior!
