Jesus, Refuge and Strength – 2016.10.09

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:2

… therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
The Lord almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (V. 2,3,7)
What a powerful psalm when you sing it in the morning before the work, before the challenges of the day. Yes, God is with us at work, He is at our side in all our neediness. He is our proven Helper. So often He had intervened and put things right.. Should he not do the same today? That is out of question.
I can come to Him with all my problems and concerns. All my trust is in Him. Yes, He takes away all my burdens and sorrows. He does it, I may rely on Him. Also today He does not leave me alone. He is trusty as always. How wonderful to have such a God!
The psalm continues and reported about the City of God. I think we can equate the City of God with the Church of Jesus and may apply this promise also to us today:
There is a river whose streams make glad the City of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall. God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress (V. 4-7).
God dwells in the midst of His flock. He cares for them whereever they are. The Holy spirit is flowing through the city like living water. He refreshes, heals, and encourages. He lifts up our Saviour Jesus who protects us. Nobody can touch the little flock. Great is His Name!
He is our strength, He is our Refuge!
He gives us power and joy – is always with us!
Jesus is His name, He is just wonderfu!
He creates peace in me and rest in my wounded heart.
Thank You, Jesus, Your trust and strength are surrounding me! I can start working with confidence as You are at my side. I will not do anything without You. How redeeming it is that I may throw all sorrows and burdens onto You.
