For what light and darkness have in common?
2 Corinthians 6:14
God wants that the light which shines through us is clear and pure. Our whole life should be light without shadow or darkness. However, how does that work when we make compromises with the world, when we behave just like all other people, when we are accepting their standards and lifestyle, when we are just like them….
God wants to select us so that He can make us whole and holy. He wants that His light – Jesus – is shining through us. He wants that His Spirit brings forth in us the fruits of love, mercy, kindness, patience, hope, and joy. But that does not work if we have one foot in the world and the other one in the Kingdom of God. This balancing act will cost us the fullness of God. A little leaven spoils the paste which has to be thrown away for it is good for nothing. God speaks very clear words about a life in compromise:
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers! For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? What have light and darkness in common? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial (a name for devil)? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple
of
God
and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: "I will live with them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore come out from them and be separate, touch not unclean thing and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. (Verses 14-18)

Jesus had been in contact with many people. He was not afraid, He enjoyed it to talk to them. However, He was not infected by their thinking and deeds when they were not pure. He was faithful to God alone.
We are living in the world and have collegues, relatives, friends, and neighbours. However we want no dependency! Therefore we separate ourselves to live for the Lord, to sanctify ourselves for Him. I do not know joyful and blessed Christians who are bound to worldly things, to moral excesses, to selfish enrichment, engaged with unbelieving pleasure-seeking partners. When the light mixes with the darkness, the light goes out.
We will keep us far away from filthiness and will receive daily purification through Jesus. We want to be light!
Yes, Jesus, Your light should shine through me! Purify me every day and fill me with Your light, with hope, patience, kindness, mercy and faith! You are my All and I want not to lose You.
