Lord, have mercy on us! – 24.09.2014

“Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
Matthew 20, 30

As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
The two blind men had heard a lot about Jesus. They put all their hopes in this Lord and called Him "Son of David". This is a word for God’s Son, Messiah, Christ, Savior and Redeemer. People did not like it at all because they had very different ideas of their Redeemer. But the blind were persistent, they could not be intimidated: all or nothing, so they probably thought. And they got everything, because they put their faith in Jesus. It does not matter what kind of you need have: The Lord has mercy! He is the Savior who knows a way out of the darkest night. Even if there really is no way out, then He creates one. He created the earth out of nothing, is He not able to solve your problem also? He had mercy on those two blind men. He had mercy on the Zacchaeus, the tax collector of Jericho. And He showed mercy to the criminal who were crucified next to Him. He has compassion for all, from animals to people. We can cry out to Him for mercy, and when we have little faith, we can even pray for more confidence. It is important only to remain stubborn at it and not be intimidated by other people, opinions or your own doubts. No, I will trust! He has always helped me, He will do it this time! Amen!
Thank you, Jesus, You are my Savior and Redeemer! You has always had a way for me and today you will be the LORD, who has mercy on me. Thanks, you are my friend, my companion and my firm grip. I can and I will trust you.
