Lord, our Lord – 2015.04.14

Lord, our Lord, how majestic
is your name throughout the earth!
You made your glory higher than heaven!
From the mouths of nursing babies
you have laid a strong foundation
because of your foes,
in order to stop vengeful enemies.
When I look up at your skies,
at what your fingers made—
the moon and the stars
that you set firmly in place.
Psalms 8:1-4
There was a time when I had forgotten how to be amazed. Everything was explained naturally, the stars, the moon, the clouds, the plants, the flowers and the music and the art. Also mathematics and engineering, physics and chemistry, that’s all set according to natural laws. How can I be amazed about this?
In my heart there was no gratitude to the Creator. Everything was gray in me. Then God had pity. He showed me this infinitely complicated interaction of the stars and atoms, the genetics in flowers and animals, the world of music: All that did not come into existence randomly, it’s too complicated. Coincidentally the chaos or a desert may be formed, but such a complicated universe – that is not possible without a "super computer"; – without God. As I slowly learned how to be amazed, God did something great: He broke the laws of nature. Then I was totally confused. But I began to understand that God is God! He can do what He wants!
It took a few days until I recovered, because my whole world view was lying in ruins. Now I know and trust that God can intervene in every situation and is doing it very well. I learn more and more about the amazement at God’s wisdom, His power and greatness, the beauty of creation, in which He arranged everything so beautifully. Yes, in this Lord I can trust. Whether He does miracles or anything "normal" happens: He is the Lord who always has the last word!
Thank you, Father in Heaven, You have mercy over me! I am not too small or too difficult for You, no, with love and patience You surround me and lead me deeper and deeper into communion with You. You show me secrets and reveal Your wisdom …. O Lord, who am I that You accept me! I can only be amazed and adore You, marvelous God!
