Marah – 2014.10.14

Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord pointed out a tree to him. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.
Exodus 15:25

Then Moses had Israel leave the Reed Sea and go out into the Shur desert. They traveled for three days in the desert and found no water. When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink Marah’s water because it was bitter. That’s why it was called Marah. The people complained against Moses, what will we drink? Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord pointed out a tree to him. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.
Our heart is like a fountain that wells up water. Our words and thoughts are this water. Through many experienced injustices and suffering the water can become bitter. Then the words and thoughts are also bitter, cloudy and actually lethal. Man can no longer look forward properly and live carefree. Due to his bad experience, he always feares misfortune and difficulties.
Good thing there is the cross of Jesus! The wood that God showed Moses, was a piece of the Cross. It made the water sweet instantly.
On the cross, Jesus bore all the injustices, all guilt, all suffering. If we bring Him our misfortune, and ask for forgiveness, He can heal our hearts from the Bitterwater. And remember: never retract it! What you have left Him, leave with Him forever! You know, a small drop of bitter gall can make the whole water inedible again. Please, come to Him and let yourself heal on His way! Then your life can be carefree and happy again.
Thank you, Jesus, for turning bitterness into joy. You turn the bitter fountain in me to a fountain of happyness. Now I can be happy again and enjoy life together with You. You are my wonderful Savior!
