Much suffering  –  2019.10.21

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Psalm 34, 19

When the righteous cry for help,
the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34, 17+18

It sounds like a contradiction: On the one hand the LORD hears, consoles and helps, on the other hand the righteous must suffer …. But one can only understand it together.
God wants to turn small children into grown, strong men and women of faith. He does not like it when we Christians always want to eat only milk porridge. He has stronger food for us!
God wants steadfast representatives here on earth, not smart milk babies or spoiled princesses.
He has a method to make us strong: Training. It’s the same in sports: The demands grow when you get better. And so it is in Christian faith: The further I get, the stronger the temptation, the challenge, the task and responsibility becomes.
Sometimes God goes to our limits, only to expand them. Of course, it is not nice to be in the middle of such a struggle. But afterwards it is wonderful, and we rejoice in the Lord! Thus the Lord builds His army.
When we are in suffering, HE is especially close to us. He does not leave His eye from us, and holds us very gently in His strong hand. We do not notice it at all, only afterwards do we become aware of it. But we can constantly pour out our hearts to Him and He comforts and gives hope. However, those who stop praying when they have finished moaning do not get God’s part in prayer: Comfort, hope, fellowship. Whoever looks at Jesus in prayer and looks at Him, who can believe the words that HE says, is comforted, gets courage and hope.
God’s promise is: He will snatch us from all, snatch us from all, save us. We are always on the winning side with Him!
Even if the way out goes “upwards”, as with Stephen, who was stoned to death, it is still salvation. For Stephen was “raptured” in the middle of the situation, no longer noticing his body, because he saw heaven open. Thus he escaped his tormentors; – Jesus carried him into heaven, and His face shone like that of an angel.

Thank You, Jesus! So far You have brought me out and saved me everywhere, for You are a strong Lord. You will continue to do so even in the most difficult hour. I trust You.
