“My old, thick, fat Me!” – 2017.02.05

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.
The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mark 14:38
Jesus said these words to His deciples when He had been overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death at Gethsemane and he found them sleeping after His prayer. So it is in the daily life. We want to do the best and are certain about our willingness, however, when it is important and we are called for we often have thousand excuses. It is so comfortable at home!
Many Christians wish healing for soal and heart. They are so very injured and sensitive by people who are trampling on them. You can only pity them.
Jesus has a radical answer to above distress: Kill your old, thick, fat Me! He has no intention to heal it. It should die that the Me in Jesus can grow. We have the choice to make an end with our old, thick, fat Me by following Jesus. He was humble.
He left His heavenly richness to visit us on earth in order to save us. He humbled Himself, did not seek His own advantage but lived and suffered instead for the people. He valued the people above Himself. He approached the prostitutes and tax collectors with respect. He enjoyed life and could bear hardship at the same time. He is our model and not the stars in the magazines, nor the ones in the Christian world.
John the Baptist, he himself lived very modestly. In Matthew 11:11 Jesus says: Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist. People are trapped by wealth, earthly honor and power. The true leaders in God`s Kingdom are modest and humble. They know how to bear hardship. They are restraint and can listen and are careful with their words. Whatever they speak they honor Jesus with their whole life, do not want to be in the center of wordly attention. They have overcome their old Ego.
We should not listen to any need of the old Me. We should seek instead what is important in the eyes of Jesus what supports our Jesus-Me. We have to feed this new Me with prayer, worship within christian communities so that the danger is eliminated to follow bad desires. This is how the Jesus people arise.
Jesus is equipping us with the Holy Spirit who affects everything in us what is pleasing God. He should be our Guide!
We want to listen to Him, to His gentle, soft voice.
We will rejoice in future when somebody try to hurt our old ego, or try to trample us down. That can only assist us in killing the old Me. Closely connected with Jesus we can go this way of victory as Jesus people.
Thank You, Jesus, You want to make out of me a new man, a man in your image. My old Me is so fat and full of bad desires, is so lazy and sluggish and is looking only for acknowledgement. No, I am protesting! I want to kill it and  invite You to come. For You want to give me the best, true life! Thank You, that You are living in me!
