My Treasure – 2016.06.18

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven …  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6: 19ff.

Often people work a lot and save their money, and then comes a disaster and everything is gone. That cannot happen if we pay into the heavenly bank.
Previous verses speak a lot about fasting, alms-giving and prayer. Again Jesus said, The Father who sees in secret, will reward you. So this is a kind of deposit into the Heavenly Bank. Incidentally, the interest rates are excellent!!
We just cannot keep records on our account in heaven. So anyone who wants all the good that he did to be noticed, perhaps even written down, will not find anything in heaven. Jesus remembers the deeds and determines our reward. If I give alms, my right hand should not know what my left hand is doing. In Matt. 25 ask the righteous: “Lord, when did we done you any good?” – They do not know any more. It is so ingrained in their character, that it happens almost automatically, and is regarded by them as normal and not as a sacrifice or great deed. In heaven many are praised by Jesus and rewarded, who are then very surprised, because they do not even know about it. And others who have always donated large, amounts prayed and even fasted will be ignored because they got their reward here on earth.
The Heavenly Bank is for small people who cannot perform great deeds. Jesus forms the small, humble people, so that they reflect His character of generosity. They are accomplished by small acts that is so precious to Jesus.
A little man who could barely read and write, every morning went on the way to work in a church and prayed there for a few minutes: Jesus, here I am! Then he fell ill and was hospitalized. But every morning at the time, where he was formerly in the church, Jesus came to his bedside and said to him: Here I am! Today I come to you.
It may be that our actions are a treasure in heaven. But our greatest treasure is Jesus himself. Where my treasure is, there is my heart. How nice if one of my desires is fulfilled and I can see Him face to face! Then all my desires are satisfied.

Thank You, Jesus, You are my greatest treasure! You have given to me, and even live in me. I want to be very careful with You, so I will not hurt. I will listen to
You and Your wishes shall be mine. For You alone are breastfeeding my desire.
