Our Daily Bread – 2017.01.30

Jesus says: This is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Matthew 6:9-11
Some people have to beg for their daily bread because otherwise they wouldn’t have enough. Despite working or looking for jobs they don’t have enough food for themself and their family. Not to mention money for clothing or housing. Our world is rich but there are still many hungry.
And we have our daily worries as well: the security of our job, our pension, our children, and our health.
There are so many worries and problems, how can I ever be happy? We have so many worries, we could think about them from dawn till dusk. If we wanted to.
But instead of worrying, we could leave it to our loving God. He takes care for His children. Of course, we have to do our part, but there are so many small things, we can’t influence. Those we should leave to God. He will always take good care for us. That is written in His word, that is how it always was, and that is how it is for me: He takes care of me.
I won’t let the sorrows control me! I want to live happy! I want to do my work without worries! So I trust Him. He loves me, I am His child, and He will take care of me!
Even if something doesn’t work out, I know: He controls everything. He will finish it in a good way. All misfortunes can’t shake my believe, I stick to Him and His promises.
God cautions His people to not forget that He is the spring of life. He takes care of work, housing, food, and clothing. Some Christians start to think that they can take credit for what they have because they worked for it. They still say thanks but it’s more like a ritual and they don’t truly feel thankful with all their heart. In their heart they feel like they earned it all themself. But God could change their life very quick! Maybe we Christians need to atone for this thoughtlessness?
One thought: For a few days let’s write down what we spent on sweets and treats (Or some other luxury). And than one day a week let’s save that money and put it where it really helps to lessen suffering. It won’t hurt me but it will help someone else. But maybe it is more important thing is that we went a day without something rather than that we donate some money. Someone with money shouldn’t donate the money and still eat the sweets! It’s about voluntary abstaining from something! Maybe that way we will go back to being really thankful. And God will bless us for that!
Thank You Jesus, for giving me everything that I need! You are the spring of life! I don’t need to live in luxury but still, some things I need. You know It all. I want to trust that You will give me everything that I need. Thank You, for taking so good care for me in the past, today, and in the future!
