Patience and hope – 2015.10.24

Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Roman 5; 4f

Patience is a virtue that we do not seem to have enough of. It is constantly missing in us! Therefore God has a school for us, in which we learn patience. He wants that our hope in him is strong and unwavering.
He allows some problems and difficulties, we have not done everything right, we have made mistakes and take wrong decisions. Others make life difficult for us or fate gives us heavy blows. How do we deal with it?
When we look at these bad things, we get depression. They are like mountains that want to crush us. We will be discouraged to stay. Self-pity increases, and we charge against God, who is apparently so heartless. Then it is not long and our faith is extinguished like a wick, which only glows.
That is why God says in His word again and again: Look up, get up, run!
He wants that we look to him, because he will never disappoint us. Also in distress He is there and consoles, gives courage and hope. With his hand, we can do it! And if we cling to him, the patience develops like a delicate flower. It may be that our problem is not solved today, but we know that God will solve it! This confidence we get in silence with God. And then the load is no longer so difficult. He cares for us and indeed has a plan and knows the right time for the rescue. Yes, together with Him, we’re not going down, but the suffering produces probation, and parole brings a strong hope in God. His love has been poured into our hearts; – how could he ever forget us?
Thank you, Jesus, you are helping! My faith is sometimes very weak and then I have no hope. But you effect new faith and new hope in me. And you can together, I get up and running again! How good that you are there!!
