Reading the Bible – 03/11/2018

Lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121
This is a wonderful psalm! A wonderful prayer in the morning! Yes, such a psalm for breakfast is like the mannah of the Israelites.
We can have that breakfast every morning! We don’t turn on the computer, we turn to the Bible. And when we have breakfast, we read a psalm like a prayer. God’s word will work in us. For years I have read the psalms in the morning and that’s why I love them so much. I think I’ll start again.
If the psalm is too short, I just read two. If it is too long, I divide it into clear sections. No problem, the freedom is there.
There is no compulsion to read the Bible at all, but it’s good to have a little plan and not read it here and there; – there you get confused.
I learned to love the psalms, even if they did not always give me something. But in the morning I’m still a little tired. And yet God works His Word in me. Wonderful! Thank you HErr!
And if you want, you can read a little bit of the Gospels about Jesus, our beloved Lord, at noon or in the evening. We need this information about Jesus so that no one can fool us. We need to know who we believe in!
In this way we will grow in faith and God can work in us.
Overcome yourself, be strong! Break with old habits and learn new ones! HE will bless you tremendously and turn you into a blessing.
Thank you, Jesus! It is always exciting and relaxing to be with you! Thank you for the psalms, the prayers of the ancient saints! You strengthen me today! Thank you for the Gospels, they are exciting in everyday life! With you I can be without worries, and it is still exciting. Thanks for being here!
