​​Rejoice in the Lord always! Once again I say: Rejoice!
Philippians 4: 4
The title for this chapter is in my Bible: Christian basic attitudes. And joy is one of those Christian basic attitudes, perhaps the most powerful one, that impresses others most. The Christian message has become so fast and so strongly spread because of the joy in the Lord, because otherwise there was so little joy. Life was and still is quite difficult and the joyful Christians had the answer. People en masse were becoming Christians. He was helping everywhere. Even funerals of Christians became joyful celebrations, so strong was the hope of Jesus!
He is the reason for our joy: He is the victor over hell, death and the devil. He is the Prince of Peace. He likes to listen to my prayer. He is with me. He is the Lord who rules everything. He loves His children. He forgives all my sin and failure. He is waiting in heaven for me when I die. He cares about me. He says: Do not be afraid! He is my comfort, my strength, my peace, my joy…. he is all in all for me. Therefore, should I not rejoice?
Today is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad! Let’s laugh at the trouble because He is there. He creates us a way out. He gives us bread and water, a roof over our head, some clothes and he gives himself to us; – so much has He loved us.
We want to thank him because our thanks transforms the gloomy mood into peace and joy. We want to keep our eyes on Him and give thanks for how many times he has helped us. All our prayers should be influenced by thanks, because thanks makes the heart happy and joyful.
Thank you, Jesus, You are so good to me! Today you are here again, helping me through the day. You carry my burdens and care about me. You are my companion, my friend, my helper, my comfort. How great that you are there!!
