Sadness – 2016.09.18

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret,
but worldly sorrow brings death.
2 Corinthians 7:10

God wants to draw us close to His heart to find our attention. He does not like it that we waste our life with useless things, that we only care about ourselves. He wants to prevent that the devil is cheating us so that we miss the salvation. Instead He likes to offer us a life with Him in joy. He always wants to give us the best. This could be painful sometimes when He treats us in a way which is not so comfortable. We do not need to look for sufferings, they will find us. God uses them to draw us nearer to His heart. To our best He smashes many things which we like, at the end ourselves. His intention is to heal us while our ego is inclined to sink into self-pity.
God wants to give us a new feeling, thinking and doing. His grace should lead us. Always and everywhere He wants to be our Saviour and Helper. He allows the afflictions which induce us to call for Him, to focuse on Him. These afflictions are there for a purpose.
The suffering always leads to a certain insecurity. Why does this happen? Why just me? Why God does accept that? These questions are reflecting our lack of understanding, disappointment and sadness. However, we keep trusting God and seek His replies. Yes, first the lamentation is great, but then we turn quickly to God to ask for answers and help. We get silent before God so that God can speak to us: Consolation, mercy and a change of heart.
Some remain complaining and never enjoy the godly comfort. Their life of faith does not grow. Smallest problems are knocking them down and they begin to wail: Why God has forgotten me?
It is better to endure suffering to pray to God so that He can fill us with His consolation. In the gospel of John the Holy Spirit is called the Comforter. He donates the change of heart which effects healing and salvation.
If we properly deal with suffering and sadness, we get nearer to God and will be as He pleases.

Jesus, I will stop complaining and mourning! I know that You are with me and always want to give me the best. Therefore I will seek You first in moments of suffering, temptations, difficulties, in all matters and listen to You. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit. I need the change of heart for salvation!
