Self-Reproaches – 2015.10.09

But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong.
1 John 1:9

Because of our sin and our failures and mistakes the enemy can really drag us down. He reproaches us with our failures, really rubs it in our face and whispers in our ear: Failure! Sinner! No hope for you! You’ll never be a good Christian! You are useless, has lost everything, you are doomed!
The only thing that helps us then, is to rely on Jesus Christ: Yes, I have sinned and I failed, but He, my good Jesus, forgave me my sins and cleaned me again! – So it is written in God’s Word.
And if our thoughts sue us and we find no peace, we can go to the throne of grace. Because even if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts and knows all things, it is said in chapter 3, verse 19.
The Spirit of God effects our ability to believe: Jesus has paid my debt. Real eliminated, forgotten, adjusted and paid.
How good is our Lord! He knows us so well and knows exactly what we need. He even makes sure that we can understand and accept His salvation. Where else is such a comprehensive liberation, love and mercy?
God has covered and hidden our guilt under the cloak of His love. No one should see them and therefore judge us. Not even we ourselves; – Or are we better judges than God?
And then come the "loving brothers" and glow with their spiritual torch under the cloak of God’s love and look for our transgressions. Terrible, these brothers! What God has forgiven, they want to condemn. And their own fault? Do they even have any? We must pray a lot for these brothers, so that the Spirit of God can work through them and so that they become merciful people who are reflecting God’s love.

Thank you, Jesus, You have forgiven me! My guilt is really eradicated and extinguished and paid and forgotten … Where is a God like You? Full of mercy, compassion and mercy! You protect me just as under a cloak of love. In You I am completely recovered and I can reassure my heart in Your presence. Your word is true!
