The Flock – 2017.03.04

The Lord God proclaims: I myself will search for my flock and seek them out.
I will seek out the lost, bring back the strays, bind up the wounded, and strengthen the weak. But the fat and the strong I will destroy, because I will tend my sheep with justice.
Ezekiel 34:11.16

Jesus seeks shepherds according to His heart! Too many seek their own happiness or self-affirmation, too many preach their own wisdom and not the word of the Lord. Too little power, too little authority by God, not enough for the little flock that God loves so much. The sheep are hungry! They should care for the shepherd, but the shepherds do not take care for the sheep, but for themselves. There God does no longer want to watch, how His flock suffers from hunger and thirst and how the strong suppress the weak. He gets up and intervenes.
He looks for shepherds according to His own heart and appoints those who are humble, patient, gentle and kind. He does not assign the loud and strong men, but the humble who do not actually want. But He empowers and supports them. Let yourself be called to feed the little flock!
Let yourself be called to join God’s little flock. He will lead them to a good pasture and to still waters. He knows each sheep by name and knows how to work correctly with every single one. He bandages the hurt, strengthens the weak, finds the displaced persons and brings back those who got lost. He is the Good Shepherd whom we can entrust our lives. He will find sources of life for us. We want to seek Him and fountains from which we can drink the Living Word.
Let us pray that God makes His word come true for our country. We only want to see God’s flock and not read the various nameplates, here is this confession and there is another. Together we are God’s flock.
Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd, whom I entrust myself to. You care so well for me and give me a good pasture and clear springs, so I hear Your Word. You care for rest and peace and are with me at the walk. I do not know where this way leads me to, but You know the way. Good thing You’re here!
