The Lamb of God – 2019.07.25

The next day he (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming towards him and said: “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”
John 1:29

At this difference the spirits divide, and many misunderstandings and arguments have been ignited in Christianity. Some people mean by “Lamb of God” the sacrificial lamb which was sacrificed for us on the cross. And they are right!   – Others see more the Lamb described in Revelation 5:12: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power, wealth and wisdom, power and honor, glory and praise.” – They see the risen Lord, the mighty King, the Lion of Judah.
Who sees Jesus right now? It is again not an either-or question, but a both-as-well-question.
Jesus is the sacrificial lamb that was slaughtered for us and eradicated our sin. Now He is exalted, sits at the right hand of God and has all power in heaven and on earth.
The emphasis is on the first for many Christians, and on the second for many others. And both are equal, so that they do not forget the other. That is why it would not be difficult if both of them found each other again and left each other standing.
I have bred sheep and also slaughtered them. It is really like this: If a sheep has no way out, then it no longer complains. It does not squeak like a pig being slaughtered. The sheep does not open its mouth and is silent. That is Jesus. He is hanging on the cross and mankind is mocking Him, then and now. He does not defend Himself. He bears our guilt and suffers the punishment silently.
Then God awakens His Son again from the dead and is happy that Jesus sits again on the throne at His right hand. He lays everything at Jesus’ feet. Above all, the Father gives authority to the Son. That is why we may rejoice, for Jesus dwells in us with all His power and glory. Once we have accepted Him as Lord, He gives us the status of God’s child.
God’s children are heirs! They inherit all the fullness of God: wisdom, power, joy, authority over Satan, love and mercy.
How good that we have a risen Lord, the Lamb worthy of worship! He reigns! How good for us!

Thank You Jesus, You Lamb of God! You have bought us dearly with Your blood. We belong to You. Thank You, You live in us with all Your power! Hallelujah!
