The Light – 2016.09.29

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1, 1 -4

That’s the first thing God made: light! Just as HE wants to do it with us: First, turn on the lights! It is the light of life and hope, but also the separation between dark and light. Everything that belongs to God, is in the light.
It may be similar in our lives: everything formless and empty and full of darkness. But God’s spirit hovers over our lives and God is waiting to say: Let there be light! He has the power.
Just beware! Because the light illuminates all darkness and brings everything to light, what we might not want.
Yes, we have to decide if we want to have the light of God in our hearts, Jesus, we have to get away from the darkness and break ties with it. How could light and darkness live together in a heart? How could we live simultaneously in both light and dark? Jesus comes only when we open our darkness and our dark places to Him, and when He may illuminate everything and may eliminate the sin and compromise. It is either … or.
We should be like a burning candle that radiates into the darkness. But sometimes the wind blows out the bright flame and just the wick glows lowly. Even as applies God’s Word: Let there be light! He has promised, twice even in Isaiah 42: 3 and Matthew 12, 20: A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not quench.
He will take care of you and turn a smoldering wick back into a bright flame. HE does not allow the wind to extinguishes the light entirely. He is for you.
He is the light, and all who come to Him, stand in the light. He is our hope, and everyone who has HIM are marked by hope. He is the life, and those who depend on Him live.
Thank you, Jesus, You are my light! Even in dark times you are there. You give hope that endures, hope that is fulfilling. With you I am in the light, and all darkness must give way. Yes, the light of hope and of life set me on fire anew!!
