The sin and the sea — 2016.03.19

Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy.
You will again have compassion on us;
you will tread our sins underfoot
and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
Michah 7, 18f.

This morning I dreamed that I was by the sea and lying in the sand. Many people came there and went to the bridge. They carried heavy backpacks full of their sins and burdens. They all went to the bridge and threw our backpacks into the sea. There was even a big truck that dumped its cargo into the sea. I watched the sea, but it was not any more filled – not even a millimeter. The people on the way to the sea saw bitter, contrite, desperate, sad and dejected. But when their backpack was gone, they were happy. They ran and hopped, they sang or hummed. Then I saw one who came back from the sea. He had emptied his backpack there. But he was still bitter and desperate. I looked at the man more closely and noticed a tiny backpack on his back. I wanted to pick it up, but this little backpack was so heavy that I could not. He was full of accusations against others. Certainly evil things had been done to the man, but he would not let go of his evil thoughts. He did not forgive, as he had been. So he trudged on with his load. Sad.
Then I saw Jesus standing in the dunes above. He was very pleased with the many who threw their backpacks into the sea and were cheerful. He waved and smiled at them. Yes, he said, it was worth it! My sacrifice on the cross was not in vain. I am happy about my children, who are now so happy!
Thank you, Jesus, You are wonderful! You throw the blame there into the sea, where it is deepest and add a sign: No Fishing! Never again will I touch upon my fault or let me pull away again. You have forgiven and forgotten; – Why should I continue to torment myself? Thank your forgiveness is unconditional and irrevocable. O, Jesus, I’m glad!!
