For we do not have a high priest who is unable to feel sympathy for our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:15f.

Jesus is showing us His heart. A heart full of compassion, pity, grace, mercy, compassion, help. God is like that: infinitely patient, loving, merciful. HE knows we are only human, flawed, sinful and full of failures. But HE loves us infinitely, forgives and forgives and forgives.
How do you see our God? What do you feel when you have failed or sinned again? What is God for you, judge or father?
This is a very crucial question, because the answer to it determines your entire faith.
Some evangelicals say: Yes, Jesus forgives, but you must not sin again, you must make an effort and keep your promise. Sin no more! With this, man has the responsibility for his salvation: If he has a strong will, he will sin no more. Otherwise he is threatened with hell.
This view is not correct. For Jesus demands of us that we forgive our brother 7 x 70 times, each and every day, again and again. He does not demand it of us if He Himself does not do it in exactly the same way: forgive 7 times 70 times a day. When I understood this, it was a load off my mind: no more condemnation!
The more I understand how much Jesus loves me, the more confidently I come to the throne of grace. I know HE loves me! HE does not judge me because of my failures! HE has compassion because HE sees my heart that loves HIM and wants to follow HIM. Yes, my Jesus is a wonderful Lord, full of mercy and grace! How could I ever wantonly disappoint this Lord? He is my life!

Jesus, I love You! Sometimes I fail and I don’t always live the way You want me to. But I can always come to You, because You forgive, You love me, You are merciful to me, You are compassionate! Thank You, I can always come to the Throne of Grace!!!
