Jesus says:
"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6
In our human thinking the truth is not a person. It is a doctrine or a thesis. One can write about them, describe the truth. However, to think that the truth is a person named Jesus Christ, this sounds strange to normal people.
Likewise a way is a way and not a person, and life is life and not a person. Furthermore we normally think to find the way to God through a true doctrine which we value as "correct" and as a key to His kingdom, or by obeying His commandments.
Jesus is very, very different to that what great wisdom teachers, philosophers and also church leaders say. He is the living Way, the living Truth, and the living Access to God. Nobody can find God through a doctrine, or by good behavior. The only key is Jesus!
When I want to visit a place on the other side of the earth I need good maps, may be 1 or 2 visas. I have to inform myself which laws apply, which vaccinations have to be carried out. There are so many points to be considered. If I overlook only one item the travel can fail. So it is with the religion. Everything depends on your attention. The gospel is quite different. As a child of God you totally trust the Father who then cares for everything: the correct visa, the flight connection, ships …just everything! So it is when I follow Jesus. He is my Way, my Truth, my Life! He is the key to God.
In Psalm 91:14f God says:"Because he loves me I will rescue him. I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. When he will call upon me, I will listen to Him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him…"
So simple is the gospel – and so difficult the religion….!
Thank You, Jesus, You are my Key, my way to God! You cleanse me from all sin, all impurity so I have access to the Father in Heaven. You are living in me, talk to me, show me the way to Life. How wonderful that I found You!
