Under the Yoke of Christ – 2016.08.09

Jesus says:
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11, 29

At times our burdens are heavy. Does Jesus want to give us more burdens? No, that can’t be. He wants to take away our burdens and replace them with His burden.
Jesus has taken away the burden of the law … "you must do this, this and that." There is no need for that for us to please God. We can live carefree and light! But we cannot live without rules; – because that leaves us floundering (Jesus is our rock). Everything is allowed, but not everything is helpful. There is quite a bit that stands between us and our Lord Jesus.
If we take His yoke upon us and carry His burden, He will take away our burdens, our worries and fears. We want to be able to see what is important to Him. We are able to get to know Jesus through the gospel. Hence the importance of reading our Bible! Let us strive to become like Jesus. What is important to Him should be important to us. He should be mirrored in our lives. His yoke is not heavy, rather it is light. For He is humble, wants our best but does not expect too much. Because he wants to give us rest for our soul. From Him we can learn what trust in God is and how to walk in faith before God.
Let us listen to Him and be led by His Holy Spirit. In all things He wants to work with us. Everything should be according to His will; – then our soul will find rest.
For Him it is important for us to be together; Him and me, one heart and one soul. For Him it is important that His love for others shines through me. Let us take up His burden for others. Let us carry them in prayer before Him and bring them God’s mercy and show them the road to life. Lord, please help me with this task!
Thank You, Jesus, You have taken away the burden of law. Now I am free to live with You. Your will shall be mine; – I want to live the way You want me to and praise You through my life.
