Who am I? – 21.10.2014

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
Psalm 8:1-5
I see the stars and the infinite universe, I look at the small world of flowers and insects – how big is the Creator, that HE created everything so wonderfully! The larks sing their praises to Him and every little flower exerts itself to bloom for Him. HE has done everything so wonderful, really wonderful!
And who am I in this endless expanse of the universe? Who am I in this long history of mankind? If I get lost in the ocean you will not find me again. And no one will hear anything about me in a hundred years. Now I’m fighting for my place in society, but I will have to leave it. What will be left after all? Who am I?
I read God’s Word. It builds me up again, because I am somebody! HE, the Creator, made even me! I’m not a pawn of history or politics or natural disasters and wars! No, I have a Creator who is my father! HE knows my name, He has planned every detail of me. This knowledge is wonderful. Just like I being a father know and love each of my children, so does God. HE is my father. When I talk to Him, He acts as if two of us were alone in the world. Then He is there only for me. He has so much to do, and yet He takes time for me. HE loves me so much! He treats me as if I were his one and only precious gemstone. He has designed the whole creation for us, so that we could enjoy it and praise Him for His works. What a powerful, loving Father we have! And as I trust my children more and more, in the same way God gives us more and more authority over creation. We are meant to be His deputies, because we are His children. We want to grow and take this responsibility for the earth and humanity and fellow men.
Father, thank you that I am your child! Thank you that you have created me! You know my name and you will never forget me. You have a place for me and I will be successful with you. How wonderful are your thoughts and plans! I can not understand it. But I know I’m safe and secure with you.
