Foolish cow – 15.10.2014

Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!

Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
Psalm 3:1-3
The King David had many, many enemies. Many wanted his life, even his only beloved son. But David knew God and knew that he is safe with Him.
The enemies complain. They look at our mistakes with the microscope. Even if something is good, they turn it into something that at least has bad motives. But this does not help, they want it that way.
The biggest enemy is but in ourselves. How often you look at yourself with accusation and anger because of your mistakes and failures! This starts getting up in the morning. Then there is a little self-pity like "Oh, I’m bad!" and soon the day is over. We ourselves have destroyed the day. The worst part is that we believe for any reason that God has forgotten us and does not help us anyway. This negative thinking which is tottaly false, can wither our faith in God. He helps others, then why not me? No, such statements destroy our faith in Jesus and in God’s help. This negative belief keeps us away from all the promises in the Bible. We are then like a cow who wants to stay inside in summertime, because it can not find anyway a juicy blade of grass… when the pasture is full of them. So the cow is starving.
No, we will not live this way! God has so often helped us and He will continue to do so! He directs me back when I am lost. I will not believe these negative, destructive thoughts! I will declare the promises of Jesus and hold on them. God will keep His word!
Thank you, Jesus, You are good to me! I will look at you already in the morning and take your promise as my claim. Forgive me where I have given space to the negative thinking and help me to develop hope and courage! You’re my strong, merciful and loving God!
